Best Dog-Friendly Hotels in Bruges

Belgium

7 dog-friendly luxury hotels.

Where can my dog actually go?

Bruges is the hardest city we've researched for dogs. Of 71 hotels checked, 48 refuse them outright, including the whole Dukes' collection and most of the canal-side boutiques. Seven made the cut, and the good news is that three of them are properly warm. Hotel de Orangerie, the CW group's designated dog hotel on the Dijver, takes dogs of any size. The Notary, a nine-suite B&B, has a resident Shiba Inu called Faiko and puts bowls in every room. NH Brugge takes two dogs to 25 kg with bowls, steps from Minnewater.

Because the centre is so tight, two 3★ estates outside the ring made the list on merit. Het Bloemenhof in Dudzele has its own dog policy and garden access, and Lodewijk Van Male in Sint-Kruis has a garden with a lake. If you want a big dog and grass, look there.

The city itself is lovely on foot with a dog. Minnewater and the Begijnhof lawns, the Kruisvest ramparts with the windmills, and the Langerei canal path are all calm on-lead walks, and the cobbles are quieter before nine.
