Best Dog-Friendly Hotels in Sintra & Cascais

Portugal

9 dog-friendly luxury hotels.

Where can my dog actually go?

Sintra and Cascais are two holidays half an hour apart, and both work with a dog. Nine hotels made the catalogue. Penha Longa, the Ritz-Carlton estate inside the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, provides a dog bed in three sizes, a tent for small dogs, and a free 30-minute walk from guest relations. Legacy Cascais gives a kit with a bed, bowl and a list of local dog spots. NH Sintra Centro on the main square provides a bed and bowls. Fortaleza do Guincho sits in a 17th-century fort directly above Guincho beach.

The beach rule is the Cascais rule: dogs banned on all supervised beaches from 1 May to 30 September, allowed on a lead from 1 October to 30 April. Guincho in October with the dunes and the Atlantic is worth the trip on its own.

Seteais, Sheraton, Villa Itália, Villa Cascais and Eurostars refuse. Artsy takes assistance dogs only. Farol's policy conflicts, so ask.
