Daisy's Verdict
Would Daisy stay again? Yes, without hesitation.
A really lovely hotel. The building is extraordinary, an 18th-century imperial riding school converted with care, the rooms have herringbone flooring perfect for a dog, and the evening bar delivers exactly the Vienna luxury you came for. The only thing that fell short was the reception team at check-in and check-out. Once you're past that, everything else is right.

The hotel

Beautiful historic hotel, dog-loved bar and rooms

Historic Autograph Collection hotel in a 19th-century riding school with stunning architecture, herringbone floors, and private garden. The building is extraordinary, but the dog-welcome experience is a study in contradictions. Room and bar were exceptional, check-in was poor, dining access is mixed.

Herringbone flooring, perfect for dogs. Spacious, well-thought-out suite layout. Evening bar experience was exceptional: high ceilings, grand architecture, staff who treated her like she belonged. Location perfect for Christmas markets and Belvedere Palace exploration.

What we noticed
Arrival

THE CHECK-IN (THE WORST EVER): Arrived by taxi, bags in tow. Nobody to help with luggage. Receptionist underwhelming, almost impressively so. Wasn't rude exactly, just completely uninformed about every aspect of booking. Booked through Crazy Daisy Travels with perks/inclusions, receptionist seemed to know nothing about any of it. Told breakfast wasn't included (it was). Didn't acknowledge any room amenities or benefits. DAISY NOT ACKNOWLEDGED AT ALL. No hello, no welcome, nothing. Only mention: receptionist asked if Daisy was a service dog (after pre-confirmed pet). As someone who runs a dog-friendly travel agency, I would never want any of my clients to receive the level of reception we got. Room key situation: told room 524, lugged up to fifth floor, key didn't work because actually room 542. Wrong room number from reception.

The room

Once inside the right room, things got a lot better. Herringbone flooring, perfect for dogs (easy to clean, Daisy not sliding around). Spacious, well thought out, classic Viennese elegance. Daisy super relaxed from moment we arrived. Welcome amenity: apple pie, biscuits, chocolate, nice welcome letter from hotel. Felt prepared by people who actually cared. Room experience: 10 out of 10. Reception experience: maybe 2 out of 10 if I'm being generous.

Daisy's Note

Request a suite with herringbone flooring (best for dogs). Confirm pet-friendly room allocation well in advance. Be prepared for rough check-in; smoothness improves after that. Don't expect staff to understand your booking perks, confirm directly with reservations.

Worth knowing

Check-in was absolutely abysmal and colored start of stay. Dining restrictions make no sense, Daisy allowed in bar/lounge area in evening, welcome to sit on sofa, staff brought water without asking. Same building, somehow Daisy NOT allowed in breakfast room. No clear logic. Had to leave Daisy in room for ~30 minutes for breakfast. Not a problem if your dog is good, but adds planning layer. Breakfast itself was busy, arriving 9-10am meant walking into peak service. One morning someone bumped into me and spilled orange juice all over me. Departure was rocky: raining, Daisy needed to go outside, asked to split bill, told it wasn't possible (even though told at check-in it was). Receptionist more concerned about who told me I could do that instead of helping solve the problem. Had to leave for train without it sorted.

Daisy welcome in the rooms, the bar and the lobby lounge. The breakfast room is dog-free, common at most luxury hotels, in-room breakfast is the workaround.
