“A four-star in the middle of Puerto de la Cruz, a short walk from the Lago Martianez sea pools and the old harbour. It carries Melia's dog programme, so there's a welcome pack and natural products rather than a bowl handed over at reception, and the dog place goes on as a booking extra. The north is cooler and greener than the south, which matters more than people expect when you're walking a dog at midday. It suits a town base with the laurel forest and the Orotava valley close by.
