The marina boardwalk at Puerto Calero is level and quiet, and the coastal path east towards Puerto del Carmen runs along low volcanic cliffs with the sea on your right the whole way. Playa Quemada is a short drive west for an empty shingle beach.

Dogs stay in certain room categories only, so the room type has to be right at the point of booking. Outside the room they're on a lead or in a carrier, in the designated dog-friendly areas. Dogs can sit with you on the terraces of some restaurants but not in the indoor restaurant areas, and they don't go to the pool, the spa, the gym, the shops or the golf facilities. Local rules keep dogs off the beaches. You can leave your dog in the room for up to two hours, never overnight, with reception told, the Dog Friendly Room sign on the door and your phone on. The resort sits above a marina rather than on a beach.
