Sorell Hotel Seidenhof

An unfussy, warm Swiss welcome, dogs simply belong

Daisy's Verdict
Would Daisy stay again? Yes, without hesitation.
The opposite of a hotel that tolerates dogs. Sorell Seidenhof gives Daisy unrestricted welcome at luxury level with no caveats, no side-eyes. Restaurant Enja is exceptional, the winter garden with marshmallow toasting is a highlight, and the location lets you walk to everything. Top-tier comfort because the dog welcome doesn't need a brand program to be real.

The real stay

The hotel

An unfussy, warm Swiss welcome, dogs simply belong

Four-star Sorell boutique in an Art Deco building on Sihlstrasse, steps off Bahnhofstrasse and a short walk to Lindenhof, the Limmat and the lake. Daisy-tested with the dedicated SO-DOG package, designated DOG Rooms, and one of the warmest dog welcomes in the entire catalog. Restaurant Enja inside the hotel is exceptional in its own right.

What we noticed
Arrival

Delayed flight in, then a 35 CHF Uber from Zurich Airport (about 20-25 minutes). The reception staff were warm and efficient. The thing that mattered most: they confirmed immediately that Daisy was welcome throughout the entire property. Not 'welcome in certain areas,' not 'welcome but please use the side entrance.' Everywhere. The restaurant, the bar, the winter garden, breakfast, no restrictions. That kind of blanket welcome is rare even at hotels that market themselves as pet-friendly. Most have caveats. Sorell Seidenhof had none.

The room

Queen Bed Cosy room. The name is accurate, it's not huge, but everything is considered in that very Swiss way where no space is wasted. Classic decor, quality linens, nice details throughout. Waiting for Daisy: a dog bed (generously sized for a Shih Tzu) and a water bowl. For me: chocolates, fresh fruit, and a handwritten welcome note. Bathrobes, slippers, coffee and tea maker, minibar all there. Our room overlooked the winter garden, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip.

Daisy's Note

Book larger than Queen Bed Cosy if you want space to spread out, the Cosy is genuinely compact. If you can, ask for a room overlooking the winter garden, it's the property's standout feature in winter.

Worth knowing

The Queen Bed Cosy room is compact, which is the trade-off for the unbeatable location. If you want space to spread out, book a larger room category. Room service breakfast was a 5 out of 10 (fruit fine, eggs inconsistent), skip it and head to the restaurant instead. The Christmas markets get uncomfortably crowded in the evening, which is a Zurich thing rather than a hotel issue. Worth flagging for transparency: there was no specific Daisy welcome at check-in (no treats handed to her, no fuss made over her by name). Other hotels in our catalog do that, this one doesn't, but the trade-off is unrestricted access throughout the property which matters more.

Walkability

Heart of Zurich, walk to absolutely everything. Old Town Christmas market is minutes away. Opera House market at Bellevue is a pleasant stroll along the lake. Swiss Chuchi for fondue is around the corner. Train station Christmas market is walkable. We never once needed tram routes, public transport, or another Uber after arrival. For a weekend break with a dog, that level of door-to-everything access is the killer feature.

Daisy's Note

Sometimes the best pet-friendly experience isn't about grand gestures. It's about being comfortably included.

The defining feature is genuinely unrestricted access. Restaurant Enja for dinner, breakfast room, the winter garden terrace with the open fires, the bar, the lobby, all confirmed Daisy-welcome during our stay.

In-room amenities+

Sorell DOG Rooms (designated pet-friendly rooms) come with a generously sized dog bed, food and water bowls, welcome treats and a towel as part of the SO-DOG welcome package. For humans on arrival: chocolates, fresh fruit, handwritten welcome note from the manager, and two complimentary drinks at the winter garden.

Getting there & around+

Airport transfer: roughly 20-25 minutes by Uber, around 35 CHF. From the hotel itself you walk everywhere, the central pedestrian zone and main sights are all door-to-door without needing trams or trains. For longer Zurich-area trips the Bahnhofstrasse trams are a few minutes' walk and the central station Hauptbahnhof is close. Day trips by SBB train are easy from there.
