Daisy's Assessment

“A thatched four-star coaching inn on the main street of Crawfordsburn, a village between Holywood and Bangor on the North Down coast. Three rooms a night are set aside for dogs, two Carriage rooms and The Cottage, and dogs can join you in the lobby, the 1614 Bar and the gardens. It suits dogs that like woodland and beach in the same walk, with Crawfordsburn Country Park at the end of the village.

Why it's in the collection

Crawfordsburn Country Park starts a few minutes' walk from the door, with a wooded glen trail to the waterfall and on down to Crawfordsburn beach and Helen's Bay, about 1.5km away. The North Down Coastal Path runs along the shore in both directions from there.

Best suited for

Only three dog-friendly rooms a night, and your dog must be crated if you leave the room.

The open question

How the welcome translates in person, at dinner and around the hotel. That's what a Daisy stay will confirm.

Dogs on a lead are welcome in their own guestroom, the hotel lobby, the 1614 Bar and the garden areas. Dogs aren't in The Restaurant. If you leave the room, your dog needs to be in its own secure crate, which you bring yourself.

Where we can't yet confirm a detail first-hand, we mark it plainly rather than guess. A Daisy stay will close every gap.
