“A 1961 cliffside building in the Sveti Jakov neighbourhood east of the Old Town, reworked into a hotel of rooms and suites that look straight across at Lokrum and the city walls. The rooms step down the rock towards the water, and the largest, the Villa Kolin Residence, has its own pool and its own path through a small pine wood. There is a spa, and the setting is quiet in a way nothing on the Stradun side manages in August. Dogs and cats are taken up to about fifteen kilos.

The lane down from Vlaha Bukovca drops to the quiet Sveti Jakov bay, and the walk west along Frana Supila takes you past Banje Beach to the Ploce gate in about fifteen minutes. From there dogs can do the whole city walls circuit on a lead.
