Where can my dog actually go?

St. Moritz does dogs the way it does everything else, properly and at a price. Seventeen hotels take dogs and the five-stars compete on the welcome. The Carlton leaves a treat, blanket, paw towels and bowls and lets dogs into the bar. Grace La Margna and the Kempinski put a bed or pillow and a treat package in the room and can arrange sitting. Badrutt's Palace and the Kulm run dog-sitting and walking through the concierge. Steffani has a whole We Love Dogs page and hands out biscuits in the restaurant.

The valley is built for walking. The lake path around St. Moritzersee is flat and takes an hour, the Stazersee forest loop is the one locals use, and the Engadin trains take dogs on a ticket so Pontresina and the Morteratsch glacier walk are an easy day out.

Budget CHF 45 to CHF 70 a night at the palaces, CHF 20 to CHF 30 at the four-stars. A few of the three-stars we kept, like the Waldhaus am See with its dog relief area, are worth a look if the palaces are full.

Rhaetian Railway and the Bernina line take dogs on a ticket, small dogs in a bag free. Pontresina, Morteratsch and the Bernina pass are all doable with the dog.
Lake path
The St. Moritzersee loop is flat, about an hour, and open to dogs on a lead. In winter the frozen lake hosts events, so check access.
Cable cars
Corviglia and Diavolezza take dogs on a ticket. Confirm at the base station in case rules change seasonally.
Restaurants
Carlton, Kempinski and Steffani allow dogs in a bar or restaurant area. Hotel Nolda sets aside dog-owner tables at breakfast. Berghotel Randolins welcomes dogs in its Stüvetta.
