Hotel Matthiol

Rustic boutique hotel where dogs are welcome almost everywhere

This hotel is part of the Daisy Curated Collection. Its information has been researched and verified, but Daisy has not yet personally stayed here. When she does, this page will be upgraded to a full Daisy Verified inspection.

Daisy's Assessment
Researched and verified. Not yet personally stayed.
A boutique hotel in rough stone and weathered wood on a quiet hillside beneath the Matterhorn, run by Dennis and Mareike Szelkowski. Rooms come with in-room saunas and steam showers, and there's a small spa and the Filet et Fils restaurant. It suits couples and dog owners who want calm and space away from the centre. Dogs get a warm welcome throughout the hotel except the spa.

Why it's in the collection

The quiet Winkelmatten hamlet and its chapel are close by, and paths towards Findeln and the Gornergrat trails start nearby for longer hillside walks.

Dogs welcome throughout except the spa area.

The open question

How the welcome translates in person, at dinner and around the hotel. That's what a Daisy stay will confirm.
