“W Budapest opened in 2023 inside the Drechsler Palace, the 1883 building facing the Opera House on Andrássy út, after decades of it standing empty. There is a spa and a restaurant on the lower floors and the rooms sit behind the restored facade. Dogs are welcome and the cap is two per room, which is rare at this level in the city, though other animals are not taken. It suits people travelling with a pair of dogs who want a central boulevard address.

You step out onto Andrássy út, where the tree-lined pavements run up past Kodály körönd to the City Park, about half an hour of straight walking. Hunyadi tér's market square and grass are about seven minutes north.
