Where can my dog actually go?
Zermatt might be the most dog-welcoming mountain resort in Europe. Thirty-one hotels in our catalogue take dogs, and the welcome goes deep. Schweizerhof has a dog room-service menu from the kitchen until 10pm. CERVO leaves a bed, bowl and treats and takes two dogs up to 100 kg. The Zermatterhof and the Europe give a basket, blanket, towel and bowls. Schloss Zermatt has a hotel dog guide. Bellerive will book a dog walker.
The village is car-free, which makes every walk quiet. Swiss trains and the Gornergrat railway take dogs on a ticket, so the dog can ride to 3,089 m and walk down through the larches. Riffelalp Resort at 2,222 m takes dogs and puts a basket in the room, so you can sleep up the mountain. Check lift rules for the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise before you plan that one.
Fees are CHF 15 to CHF 45 a night. Nothing here is free, but almost everything gives something back for it.
